Our first week back!

September 13, 2024

Our Scouts began the year with the Paralympics as the theme for the evening, with Patrol forums on disability rights and playing some sitting volleyball. Now that we have two hour long sessions, we can fit more fun in!

Cubs squished together, standing on a blanket to play the magic carpet game, where the Cubs need to stay standing on the blanket, but flip the blanket over to stand on the other side of the blanket. One Cub standing, arms raised in triumph with four other Cubs crouching on a blanket, two more Cubs have fallen over onto the floor while playing the magic carpet game.

The Cubs kicked things off with some team games and Six forums on doing your best, as well as welcoming some new Cubs.

Three Beavers are crawling down the hall, holding onto each other's ankles in a chain, racing the other team. The second team has broken apart and the two Beavers on that team are crawling with a large space between them, so they will not win.8 Beaver Scouts are sat around a cluster of tables, which are covered in leaves, sheets of paper and thick crayons. The Beavers are busy making leaf rubbings. They are being assisted by an adult and a teenager.Three pages of leaf rubbings made by the Beavers. They've done a good job, using several colours on each page, with the veins and leaf edges showing clearly for each leaf. They've used several kinds of leaves to make the rubbings, including oak, maple, beech, birch, chestnut and some shrub leaves which weren't identified.

Beavers were off with a bang, getting stuck into some leaf rubbing art and team games. I've been told they loved it so much that the art continued at home!

We're glad to be back, with some new awards to compete for in each section and some new ways for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to earn points for their Lodge, Six or Patrol.

Bring on this year of fun and adventure!
