The Scout Troop is the section above Beavers and Cubs. Scouts is for young people aged between 10½ and 14 years. Our Scout Troop consists of small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Throughout the year, Scouts aims to build and develop young people's confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs, attitudes and be creative. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps.
Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme including traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking, as well as a wider spectrum of adventurous activities, from abseiling to zorb soccer. Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and there are a number of badges and awards that Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements. Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community based work to planning games and activities for their meetings.

No, but I went camping most summers and spent a lot of my childhood dreaming of being in Swallows and Amazons (the books, not the films).
My wife became a Beaver Section Leader and persuaded me to help with the Scouts, and I ended up as a leader.

Yes — Brownies and Guides as a member, but I also went with my dad to his Scout group (back in the days before girls could be members 😉).
I joined the 46th as a volunteer when my eldest son went up to Scouts and we were short of adults, but it was working with the young people that made me want to stay.
Seeing the young people achieving things and working together; seeing smiles on their faces.
Eating out, going to the theatre, going on holiday.

My Daughter wanted to join as a Cub.

Holidaying and exploring the UK, vintage and classic cars, gardening and cooking.
Less than a year.
Yes. I was a Cub, Scout and Venture Scout in Manchester.
Scouts has always been a part of my life, and helps me to develop and challenge myself in a variety of ways all while trying new activities.
As an adult, it still gives me a chance to develop as well as my involvement helping members to try new things and to get outdoors.
You're probably just the person we need to help with the Scouts section. Head over to the volunteer page to see how you could help.
