Beavers, Cubs & Scouts at the 46th.
My parents were both Cub leaders at the 36th/51st in Earlsdon before I was born, and then moved to the 46th as Cub leaders when they moved to Allesley Park, this meant it was inevitable I would join the movement.
Seeing the joy in the young people’s eyes when they learn a new skill or take part in a new activity they have never tried before.
I am a keen grower of all things edible, having taken over an allotment in 2024 and with the ambition to grow at least 50% of our family's vegetable requirements ourselves. I also sew, opting to make do and mend as much as possible. Otherwise, you will find me cooking or reading, quiet activities that offer me much joy.

I was a brownie and a girl guide in Dorset, where I grew up. My family were heavily involved with my mum being a leader for many years.
I find the ethos and values of scouting match my own - to provide a positive environment for all people to come together to gain skills and a sense of inclusion and belonging. My youngest son wanted to be involved and as a "do-er" I felt compelled to support the 46th to continue doing what they do so well.
The skills that young people, and adult supporters/volunteers, are able to gain in a safe and welcoming environment.
Gardening, chicken keeping, DIY, cooking, walking, spending time with family & friends or generally being sociable. Keen interest in recycling, re-purposing, saving money & all things finance.

Nope, my family's religion did not allow involvement. However one of my friends was a Brownie & Guide and I was always rather envious of what she got up to. That said, I am the youngest of 7 and our family was always out doing something practical and we spent a lot of time in our large garden growing vegetables, caring for the land, keeping bees, chickens, pheasants, peacocks & even a few goats. We were very hands-on and involved with maintenence of our property.
My daughter joined Scouts in winter 2018 and at the first AGM, I identified where I could contribute by using my interest in finance & saving money to help out.
Being part of a group of people that has a genuine interest in giving young people practical, useful, engaging opportunities to step away from social media and learn about others.
My hobbies are more indoor based. I do enjoy walking. I love walking in the Lake District as well as The Peaks and The Cotswolds. I love a good book and enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles.

As a young person I was a Brownie and Girl Guide. As a Guide I was a helper with both the Rainbow and Brownie groups.
My older children enjoyed being a part of scouting when they were younger and more my younger children are enjoying all of the benefits of being a part of a scouting group. This is my way of supporting an amazing organisation, of giving something back.
My hobbies are reading, listening to music going to the gym. I also love to visit new parks with the children.

As a child I went to brownies from the age of 7, then I attended guides and did my young leader ship with rainbows and brownies, life carried on and unfortunately I didn’t carry on. But when my children were born I very much wanted them to have the opportunity and experience that I so much enjoyed as a child.
I joined scouting to help by giving back as they have given so much to my children and helped them with their confidence so much it’s lovely to see kids being kids and having fun and learning life skills.
